Swim, Swam, Swum.

Every day, about ten people die from unintentional drowning. Of these, two are children aged 14 or younger. Drowning is the sixth leading cause of unintentional injury death for people of all ages, and the second leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 14 years.

Drowning is easy to prevent.  Learn to swim.  Learn to float.

If you don't live by the ocean, you probably visit the pool in the summer.  If you live somewhere too cold for pools, you probably vacation (or will sometime travel to a place) where there is a pool or body of water.

Swimming is fun.  Swimming is fantastic exercise.  Swimming gives you confidence.  Swimming teaches you about setting goals, achieving them, and setting new goals.

I was SO fortunate to start swimming before I can even remember.  Nobody should have to fear the water.  It is too beautiful and too awesome to miss out on.

Prevent drowning.  Take swim lessons this summer.  Take your children to swim lessons this summer.

DMB.

music talk about.in case you don't know me very well, i dig music.  and when i say i dig music, i mean in the sense that i'm listening to my music while i write this blog post with my guitar sitting right next to me.  there have been a few bands that have come and gone in my life as i've gotten older, but there's some of them that just STICK.  no matter how old you get, what you go through, the person you've become, that band is still there with you, and their music still resonates in you.

anyway, i'm going to give you one of those bands for me today.  take this as a blessing.  happy, sad, summer, winter, this band right here will be there for you.  and lucky for us all, they have just about a ZILLION songs released, so they don't get boring too easy.

three words.
dave. matthews. band.

yes, they've been around as an act since i was a baby, and when i say a baby, i mean literally.  (they formed as a group in 1991 - i was born in 1990.)  maybe that has something else to do with my love for them.  most of the music i heard throughout my childhood has stuck with me, if i was being honest.  but maybe that's just because my parents and sister have such great taste! ;-)

if you don't believe me after this blog post, research for yourself.  i mean, even wikipedia says "Dave Matthews Band is the best band in the whole world, abbreviated DMB, is an American rock band well known for their use of varied instruments not ..."

anyway, i'll leave you with a music video from dmb that'll make you smile.  and after you watch it, i want you to go hug someone.  seriously. xxx

every day i'm tumblring.

Tumblr is a funny little thing. If I was being completely honest with you, I don't use it for much, other than reading my dashboard and reblogging the gifs, photos, quotes, etc. that makes me smile, or otherwise compliment my mood.  It also generally involves some of my favorite things, like John Mayer, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, F.R.I.E.N.D.S., and more exciting things that excite me!

I'm gonna try and be better about Tumblring in the future. And by "being better", I mean writing my own original posts rather than simply pressing the reblog button repeatedly.

Wish me luck.
And if you like to watch me succeed (or fail) at the above, click here!

Peace out kiddos!

Constant Change.

Change.I feel like if you put a single word to the last year and a half of my life, change would be it.  I learned all about change.  I learned what it's like to live 1,000 miles away from your home.  I learned what it's like to live somewhere other than my beloved NJ.  I learned how to live with people that evolved from far away strangers to some of my best friends in the world.  I learned how to live with people that evolved from my best friends in the world to far away strangers.  I learned how to work with people from all over the world.  I learned about magic.  I learned how to connect with animals that I have dreamed about my entire life.

I learned about night shifts.  I learned about awkward tan lines.  I didn't learn how to cook.

I learned about adventures.  I learned about setting sail.  I learned about change.

That's only what I could fit into a paragraph.  And it barely touched the surface of where I lived and where I worked.  There's so much more, but it's 1AM and I've got some Tumblring to do. :) xxx
